The Perfect Avie Toast

I may never be able to afford my own house, but I can make a mean avocado toast. (Is that joke overused? Probably. Am I sorry? No.)

This is my favorite way to prepare avocado toast. The radishes give it a spicy, crunch kick, and the lemon gives it a fun brightness.

Here’s what ya need to master the avie toast:

  • Toasted multigrain artisan bread
  • Half an avocado
  • Thinly sliced radish
  • Lemon zest
  • Lemon juice
  • Chili flakes
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Salt and pepper

I don’t want to insult your intelligence by giving you a full recipe for this bad boy — it’s pretty straightforward. But here’s the play-by-play if you want that comfort blanket:

Step One: Toast your bread. Mash your avies on the toast with a fork.

Step Two: Salt and pepper your avocado generously. Add a squeeze of lemon juice and some lemon zest.

Note: If you’re not big on lemon, you can skip the zest. The zest is where most of the lemon flavor come from. Definitely do not skip the lemon juice though.

Step Three: Place your radishes on the avocado toast.

Step Four: Throw on another crack of pepper. Add a swirl of extra-virgin olive oil, and a pinch of chili flakes.

And that’s it! It’s a super simple and super yummy breakfast or afternoon snack for any broke millennial. Cheers to an empty bank account.
